PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ
1. The Sixteenth Meeting of
the Negotiating Group on Government Procurement was held in Panama from February
6 to 8, 2002. The following countries were in attendance: Argentina, Bolivia,
Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El
Salvador, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, United States,
Uruguay and Venezuela.
2. The Agenda approved for discussion is attached as Annex I.
3. The meeting considered the first three items on the agenda. The Group
agreed it would discuss at the next meeting those items not covered during this
meeting for lack of time.

2. Completion of recommendations to the TNC on guidelines, procedures and
deadlines for negotiation of market access for government procurement

5. Other business
